The Rev. Dr. Steven L. Lyons

The Rev. Dr. Steven L. Lyons

President

Dr. Lyons holds the Associate of Science Degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, Atlanta, GA, a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Augustine's University, Raleigh and a Master of Divinity Degree from Shaw University Divinity School also in Raleigh. He earned the Doctor of Ministry Degree, conferred upon him at Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC.

Dr. Lyons is the Presiding Elder of the Western District of the Western North Carolina Annual Conference having previously served as the proud Pastor of Churches in Laurinburg, NC, Winston-Salem, NC and Hillsborough, NC. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Western North Carolina Annual Conference of the 2nd Episcopal District of the AME Church and is a member of the Board of Examiners of the Western North Carolina Conference, the RED Board, Inc. and the Judiciary Committee.  On the Connectional level, Dr. Lyons is a member of the Preliminary Inquiry Committee.

Dr. Lyons is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Phi Lambda Chapter) and served as the National Associate Chaplain of the Fraternity under the Presidency of Brother Dr. Everett B. Ward.  He is also a member of the New Bern Avenue Corridor Alliance, the Southeast Raleigh Community Development Corporation and was a Board Member of Transitions LifeCare (Hospice) of Wake County. 

Dr. Lyons serves as a current member of the NC Board of Funeral Service (past President), having been appointed by Gov. Roy Cooper, representing the NCFDA.  He is a member of the NC Funeral Director's and Mortician's Association (Central District - Sergeant at Arms), the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, the NC Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association and Selected Independent Funeral Homes. 

"Steve" has been employed with several funeral homes in the state, lending his professional services to those well established and successful firms, including Lea Funeral Home, Raleigh, where he served as Assistant Manager and Manager for close to 17 years, William Toney's Funeral Home, Spring Hope & Zebulon, where he served for almost 4 years and Hunter-Odom Funeral Service, Inc., Rocky Mount where he served his apprenticeship, earned his license as well as worked as a teenager while in High School.

Dr. Lyons is married to the former Robin Nicole Johnson of Raleigh.  Together, they are the parents of three and grandparents of three "grandkisses."  They, along with those who work along-side them, stand ready to provide Trust, Service and Compassion to those in their time of need.

Mrs. Robin Nicole Lyons was born and primarily raised in Raleigh.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from North Carolina Wesleyan University, reflecting her strong commitment to academic excellence and service. She further enhanced her professional expertise by earning her Paralegal Certification from Meredith College and Fayetteville Technical Community College. 


In addition, Robin is a licensed North Carolina Funeral Director, a role that allows her to minister alongside her husband to families with trust, service, and compassion during their most sensitive moments.


She considers her greatest gifts and joys to be motherhood to her adult children and being “Gigi” to her beloved Grandkisses.

Born and raised in Rocky Mount, Kenny has been in the funeral industry, working alongside his brother, for 13 years.  He enjoys sports, especially Basketball, and surfing the internet.

A childcare provider and social media enthusiast, Tracye lends her skills to assist her big brother, Steve and the team, trying to assist families at a very vulnerable time in their life.

Funeral Service Licensee

Rev.  Brooks has been a Funeral Service Licensee since 1994. Additionally, he is a NC licensed Insurance Agent and Notary.  He is married to Regina and together, they have 3 children, Charles II, Renita and Briana. He has been the Pastor of Poplar Springs Christian Church, Raleigh since 1990 and has been a Philosophy/Ethics Professor at his alma mater, Saint Augustine’s University since 2012.

Corey has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for a number of years.  His unique gifts help to provide a source of comfort to families entrusting the care of their loved one to Steven L. Lyons Funeral Home as well as other firms across the Triangle.

Apprentice Funeral Service Licensee

The Rev. Adrian J. Bullock serves as an Apprentice in Funeral Services at Steven L. Lyons Funeral Home. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Reverend Bullock serves as pastor of Beaver Dam Missionary Baptist Church (Clinton, NC) and Triangle Area Campus Minister of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina.

The proud husband of Mrs. Aneika E. Bullock, Reverend Bullock is active with the General Baptist State Convention.  He is a graduate from North Carolina Central University, Campbell University Divinity School, and is currently a student in the Funeral Service Program at Fayetteville Technical Community College.

"K.D.” is a native  of Raleigh. He is retired  from  the  Raleigh  Fire  Department as well  as the  U. S. Air  Force. He has been in the  Funeral  Business with Steven L. Lyons Funeral Home since day 1 and loves every  minute  of  it. He strives  to  be  as professional as he can, showing honor, love and respect.

Ms. Richardson is a licensed insurance agent in NC and VA. She is a commissioned NC Notary and a resident of Raleigh.

Mrs. Lindsay formerly worked with the City of Raleigh Government as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Community Services. She retired in 2010 after 34 years of service. She is a member of the Trustee Board of her local Church, serving for nearly 21 years.

Grova L. Bridgers is a retired Educator, retiring from the NC Department of Public Instruction.  He is a graduate of NCCU, Virginia State University and Campbell University.  Dr. Bridgers is married to Mrs. Rhonda Rush Bridgers.  He is a father and grandfather as well.

Danny M. Foreman Sr. is a native of Havelock and is a veteran of the US Army.  He is the oldest of four children, father of three sons, and is a grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Foreman is a Deacon at Johnston Piney Grove Baptist Church, Clayton.  Happily married, he is retired and enjoys fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing and traveling.

Mrs. Highsmith is a retired Wake County Social Services employee. She is the widow of the late Rev. John W. Highsmith and is a doting mother and grandmother. An accomplished musician and Choir director, she brings her gifts to provide comforting services to families.

Dr. Joseph Roosevelt Rogers, Sr. was born and reared in Middlesex, North Carolina. He is married to Dr. Steppi G. Rogers. He attended North Carolina State University, studying Mechanical Drafting. He was employed by the Westinghouse Meter Division Engineering Department as a Senior Design Draftsman for twenty years.

Dr. Rogers is a graduate of the American Christian College & and Seminary of Bethany, Oklahoma earning: A Bachelor of Arts & Master of Arts in Biblical Studies and A Doctor of The Ministry Degree in Christian Education & Counseling.


Dr. Rogers is a vivid author and in this ministry; he has written and published over four-hundred books sharing insights dealing with ‘Church Administration’, ‘Church Leadership’, “Church Auxiliaries”, “Church Discipline & Restoration’, Counseling’, and A Sermon Preaching Series, all located on Lulu.com and Amazon.com.

Dr. Rogers is the former pastor of the Southern Grove, Johnston Piney Grove, Greater Philadelphia, and Mount Zion First Baptist Churches of Kenly, Clayton, Raleigh and Rocky Mount, North Carolina, respectively.


Dr. Rogers is Founder and Executive Director of J & L Outreach Ministries, a non-profit 501 C 3 tax exempt corporation designed to assist the community in all areas of people development: body, soul, and spirit.

Dr. Steppi Gatrella Williams-Rogers was born and reared in Spring Hope, North Carolina. She is married to Dr. Joseph R. Rogers Sr. She was ordained as an “Elder” in 2007 under the leadership of Apostle Norman A. Orrell.

Dr. Williams-Rogers is a graduate of Shaw University with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/ Philosophy, with high honors (Summa Cum Laude). She is a member of Alpha Chi. She continued her educational journey by earning a master’s in biblical studies, a Doctoral Degree in Biblical Studies, and a Doctoral Degree in Biblical Christian Counseling from Patriot Bible University, Del Norte, Colorado.

Dr. Williams-Rogers is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows (International), Women in Ministry Support Group (WIMS), Sister 2 Sister Ministries Inc., Women on the Wall Intercessory Prayer Team, and is an active member of the North Carolina Association for Women in Ministry, Inc.

Dr. Williams-Rogers is a committed and dedicated Christian with much knowledge, wisdom, and zeal as she ministers to and in the body of Christ. She is a prolific author with over 30 books published to date; all of which are distributed by Amazon.com and Lulu.com.
