The Rev. Mae Esther Battle Walker Lawson

The Rev. Mae Esther Battle Walker Lawson, age 79, of Smithfield, formerly of Raleigh, departed this life on Friday, March 10, 2023.

Funeral, 11AM, Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Mount Peace Baptist Church, 1601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Raleigh.  The Rev. Dr. J. Vincent Terry Sr., Pastor with Rev. Lawson's daughter, The Rev. Shirleathia D. Walker, doing the Eulogy.  Visitation, 10:30 AM, to 11 AM, prior to the service.  Interment, The Historic Oakwood Cemetery.  Public viewing, 12 Noon to 8 PM, Friday, March 31, 2023 at the funeral home.  

Survivors: children, Aretha R. Walker, Ronny D. Walker Sr., The Rev. Shirleathia D. Walker, Donald Lawson Jr., Dewna Lawson and Darryle Lawson; brothers, The Rev. Milton O. Battle (Doris) and The Rev. Shelton T. Miles, Sr. (Rosazyn) of Durham; sisters, Janie B. Wilson, Bettie B. Duell, Paula Adeniji (Peter), Arlene Griffis (Thomas) and Carolyn Winfrey; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends, including her sister-in-law, Donnie Miles and brothers-in-law, Albert Justice and Lucius Walker (Corrine).
