Funeral, 2:00PM, Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Steven L Lyons Funeral Home, 1515 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh, NC. Visitation, 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Dr. Joseph Rogers, Officiating. There will be no public viewing.

Survivors; daughter, Shamai Sterling of Raleigh; sons, Damon Sterling (Jennifer) of Raleigh, Shaikh Alamin-Khashoggi (Shelia) of Raleigh; Timothy Larry of Raleigh; siblings, Rita Charles of Raleigh, Pamela Charles of Chicago and James Charles of Chicago and a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Akbar was pre-deceased by her parents and siblings, Susie Charles, John Charles and George Charles.
