Mrs. Ruth “Dee” Polite Shuemate, age 79, of Raleigh, departed this life on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Memorial Service, 1:30 PM, Sunday, January 18, 2026, Steven L. Lyons Funeral Home, 1515 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh.  The Rev. Dr. Joseph Rogers, officiating.

Survivors; son, Sean R. Shuemate (Nayeli Castillo); grandchildren Tiara Shuemate, Shana Shuemate, Jaron Hicks, Lincoln Benjestorf, and Shao Lin Shuemate; siblings, Ann Polite, Deborah Gumes, Theresa Gumes, Kenneth Gumes, and Reginald Gumes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including two special "angels" Michelle Jones, and Angela Pulley.
