Mrs. Cassandra "Kaye" Herndon Finger Obituary

Remembering My Only Sister

Cassandra "Kaye" Teresa Herndon Finger

Sunrise: March 21, 1956 - Sunset: August 5, 2023

Born To: Marion Virginia Riddick H. Leach and Willie Lee Herndon.

Educated: Kaye as we affectionally called her was educated at Lucille Hunter and Jeffrey’s Grove Elementary School, she graduated from Millbrook High and continued her education at Shaw University.

Employment: Kaye was employed for over 25 years with Wake County Sheriff’s Department, (24) of those years under the leadership of John H. Baker, Jr.  After she retired from the Sheriff Department, she was employed by Shaw and St. Augustine Universities

Church:  Early in life Kaye attended Rush Metropolitan AME Church and at an early age joined St. Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastors: J. D. Lockley and presently Ronald E. Avery.  She served faithfully for over 50 years singing on the choirs (with her melodious voice) ushing, preparing foods for the church Meals on Wheels, the Missionary and various other ministries until her health declined.

Kaye always surrounded herself with family and friends.  One of her greatest passions after praising God and singing was family gatherings, opening up her home to all of us and preparing her favorite food dishes.  Some of these times were Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthdays and Superbowl Sunday.  Kaye was truly a family orientated person

To My dearest Sister, I think about you a lot, often reading the various cards that I received from you on birthdays, mother’s day and Christmas.  Although I know you have departed from this earth, it seems like yesterday that we were sitting around talking, laughing and just having family fun.

As the Songs say “Glory, Glory Hallelujah, I Shall Know Him and There’s a Feast of the Lord Going On.” AND I MADE IT HERE, I can just see you standing up there in the home of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ talking, laughing and singing in the heavenly choir with family, your Mother (Marion ), father (Willie), Brother (Michael Anthony), our dearest grandmother (Henrietta Brooks Riddick) grandma Margret Herndon, Aunt (Blanche, whom you called out to a few days before departing), Carolyn, Jimmy, Dot, and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins other and family members and friends.

Just want to say, we love and miss you much and hope when our time comes, we will see you all again over in glory land.  “OH, WHAT A TIME WE ALL WILL HAVE”

With All Our Love and Fondest Memories

Your Sister Marilyn, William, Latoya (Amir, Karter, Aysiah, Onyx and Family

   “LOVE YOU KAYE”
