Mr. Newbern Watkins, Jr., age 87, of Raleigh, departed this life on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

Funeral, 12:30 PM, Monday, November 21, 2022, at Eagle Rock Christian Church, 6471 Falconwood Drive, Wendell.  Pastor LeOwen Evans, Officiating.  Visitation, 12 Noon to 12:30 PM, prior to the service.  Interment, Carolina Biblical Gardens, Garner.  Public viewing, 10 AM to 8 PM, Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the funeral home.  

Survivors; wife, Lucy J. Watkins of the home; children, William D. Whitley of Durham, Marvin E. Watkins of Raleigh, and Theodis Lamont (Zellice) Watkins of Raleigh; grandchildren, William D. Whitley Jr. and Alesia Whitley both of Durham, Jarius Barnes, Jazmine Watkins and Jaida Watkins all of Raleigh; siblings, Edward Lewis (Barbara) of Wendell, Shirley Harris (Ted) of Hamilton, NJ, Janie Green (Johnny) of Raleigh and Wilma Lucas (Alfonso) of Nashville, NC; one aunt, Ernestine Montague of Zebulon; six sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
