Mr. James Milton Hines

The Mr. James Milton Hines, age 86, of Raleigh, departed this life on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Funeral, 11 AM, Monday, March 9, 2026, at Steven L. Lyons Funeral Home, 1515 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh.  The Rev. Dr. Dumas A. Harshaw Jr., Pastor Emeritus First Baptist Church, Raleigh.  Visitation, 10:30 AM to 11 AM, prior to the service.  Graveside, 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Brownhill Cemetery, Greenville.  Public viewing, 12 noon to 8 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the funeral home.  

Mr. Hines leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted wife, Evelyn Law Hines of the home; children from previous marriage, one son, Alvin J. Hines, Minnesota; one daughter, Cheryl L. Hines of New York; one brother, Dr. Wiley E. Hines, Sr. (Gloria), Winterville, NC; two nephews, Wiley E. Hines, Jr., Atlanta, GA and Dr. Derrick S. Hines, Phoenix, AZ; one niece, Wandria E. Hines, Atlanta, GA; foster sister, Kathyrn Ann Hines of Norfolk, VA; sister-in-law, Lillie Motley of Pittsburgh, PA; one uncle, Ed Langley, Greenville, NC; one great uncle, Johnny Langley, Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
