Mr. James Edward "Jimmy" Chavis

Mr. James Edward Chavis, "Jimmy," age 76, of Raleigh, departed this life on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. 

Funeral, 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Baptist Grove Church, 7109 Leesville Road, Raleigh.  The Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu, Pastor.  Visitation, 10 AM to 10:30 AM, prior to the service.  Interment, Eastern Carolina Veterans State Cemetery, Goldsboro.  Public viewing, 12 Noon to 8 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the funeral home. 

Survivors; children, James E. Chavis Jr., Furkeisher A. Henderson, Pastor Patricia Bethune (Apostle Moses Bethune), Edward "Teddy" Chavis, Jacquelyn L. Chavis and Jonathan Chavis; siblings, Gladys Harris, William Chavis (Helen), Edward Chavis (Wanda), Linda Hardy and Vera Mae Saulters; 24 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

The family will receive friends at 1313 Foxrun Drive, Raleigh.
