Mr. Gregory Desmond Scott Sr., affectionately known as “Greg” or “Spark,” was born on March 30, 1962, in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Gladys Scott (Turrentine) and Ross Scott Jr. He peacefully entered eternal rest on July 19, 2026.
A proud graduate of Northern High School in Durham, Greg dedicated his career to serving his community through various positions, including employment at John Umstead Hospital, Waste Industries, and the University of North Carolina.
Greg had a vibrant spirit and truly embraced life. He was a fun-loving man with a contagious smile and a great sense of humor who could always make those around him laugh. He had a deep love for sports, enjoyed having cookouts, and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family and friends. Greg never met a stranger, his warm personality and kind heart allowed him to make friends wherever he went. He touched countless lives through his kindness, laughter, and genuine love for others. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Greg was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gladys Scott (Turrentine) and Ross Scott Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Gregory D. Scott Jr., Thomas Scott, Reginald Cole Jr., and Jasmine C. Scott (Kerwin); his siblings, Tracy Scott, Roslyn Scott, Sheryl Scott Johnson (Edward), Melissa Scott, and Mark Scott (Portia); six beloved grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Greg’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the lives of those he loved and those who loved him.
