Mr. Erik James

Mr. Erik James, age 52, of 1304-N Stinebeck Drive, Raleigh, departed this life on Thursday, March 26, 2020.  Erik was the son of the late Lillian Russell and was born on April 5, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York.

Erik was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Russell and nephew Michael Todd Russell Jr.  After graduating and receiving his diploma from John Bowne High School in 1986 in Queens, New York, he served in the United States Navy.  Those that truly know Erik, knew him to be a very quiet, and private individual. He had a protective nature always wanting to see the people he loved most doing well. He would give his last to make sure he was able to provide for his family and that was the evidence of how big of a heart he had.

Erik leaves to cherish his memory; his brother, Michael Todd Russell; sister-in-law, Barbara Dunston; nephew, William Russell; niece, Antoinette Russell; aunts, Mary Russell and Edith Russell; and a host of relatives and friends including extended family members, Sampson Benjamin, Shinise Benjamin and Russell Benjamin; and a god-daughter, Laronya K. Williams of Raleigh.

The family will hold a private service with Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
