Bishop Dr. William Sterling Spain II Obituary

Bishop Dr. William Sterling Spain II was the Establishmentarian and Senior Pastor of The Glorious Church Inc., in the city of Raleigh, NC.  Bishop Spain was a spiritual motivator who was astute in the Word of God.  He lead by example and served as a father to many recognized pastors and church leaders. Bishop Spain was the Founder and Presiding Prelate of the International Council of Pentecostal Ministries, Inc., which connects several Christian organizations nationwide. Bishop Spain was also the Founder of the International Alliance of Bishop which is also housed in the city of Raleigh.

Bishop Spain began his ministry at the age of fifteen and throughout his ministerial career, performed the work of an Evangelist and established numerous churches and ministries throughout Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.

In 1985, he and his wife, the late Elder Deloris Spain, began The Glorious Church with its first services being held in Garner, North Carolina.  In 1989, the Lord directed him to relocate the church to the capital city of Raleigh, North Carolina. Since that time The Glorious Church has grown, evolved, and reproduced, serving as the headquarters church for the ICOPM.

Bishop Spain was consecrated to the office of Bishop on May 21, 1994.  He received his Doctorate of Ministry from Logos International College and Seminary in March 1998, and later served as the Director of Missions for Logos.  In March 2005, he received his Doctorate of Divinity from Christ United Theological School. Because of his God-inspired passion for missions and church growth, Bishop Spain conducted both locally and international church growth, leadership seminars, as well as mission outreach efforts locally and overseas.

In 2011 Bishop Spain was joined in holy matrimony to his beautiful bride, First Lady Regina H. Spain.  Lady Regina, a New Jersey native, joined hands with him and took on the responsibility to help win souls for the Kingdom.

The influence of Bishop Spain’s ministry has reached the International level, touching Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the West Indies. Today, Bishop Spain is the spiritual father, mentor, and overseer to several local and International Ministries.
