Mr. Alvin “Al” Wimbish, Sr, who never met a stranger, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2019. Al was 84 years old and had lived in Raleigh, NC most of his life. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents John Wimbish and Elizabeth Hope Wimbish of Henderson, N.C., as well as his brothers John, James, Samuel, his sisters Elizabeth and Jessie. Prior to his retirement, Alvin owned a plumbing company. He enjoyed volunteering and helping others.
Funeral service is Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 12 noon at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 7215 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, N.C. Visitation is from 11:00 AM - 12:00 noon, prior to the service. Pastor William L. Morgan, officiating.
Al leaves behind a host of family and friends, including his sister Pauline Banks, his ex wife, Clarice Wimbish of Raleigh, NC and their children - Belynda Wimbish of Alexandria, VA, Alvina Wimbish (Donald Walthour) of Cookstown, NJ, Alfreda Burnette of Raleigh, Alvin Wimbish Jr (Shirlene Wimbish) of Raleigh, NC, Felecia Wimbish (Morris Applewhite) of Jacksonville, FL; Stacey Webb of Raleigh, NC, the mother of his daughter Christina Wimbish (Shaun Hines) of Rocky Mount, NC and Sarah Branche of Gainesville, FL. Grandchildren - De’Shonda Wimbish-Wortham, Danielle Wimbish, Michael Maxwell Burnette, Shawnetta Wimbish, Daniel Wimbish Applewhite, Rachel Wimbish Applewhite, Brittany Webb, and Keishaun Hines. Great grandchildren - Khyrin Patterson, Trinity Wortham, Jaeden Wortham, Taniyah Armstrong, Kamanie Conyers-Price, Amir Morring, and Londyn Wimbish. Al leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He also leaves behind many close and dear friends including Doris, Hassiem, John and many others at the Glenwood Towers.
